    music theory and …
music theory and notation is like a foreign language. you need to sit down and study it for years until it makes sense. sure you can get a guy who picks up an electric guitar and learns to play a slayer song in 10 minutes. but can he read and understand notation?

its very technical and i agree with beole7705–this isnt for beginners. without a comprehensive explanation of what he’s saying, its just going to sound like gibberish.

Thanks, good stuff. I have been learning theory and composition as long as i have been learning guitar, (only 8 months though) so this makes a lot of sense to me, yeah man, you do kinda move fast, but everything you say checks out when I paused you every couple lines.
Don’t get discouraged everybody, we all learn differently. I taught myself how to play with Ralph Denyars Guitar handbook and it has been a great guide. Just have fun playing and this kind of stuff will happen for you.

I liked the lesson. It made sense to me. It is important to note that beginning jazz is not for the beginning guitarist. Jazz is a study for intermediate and up. Then it makes sense. The replay function is cool for folks who need to see more than once,(like me)
